Enrollment lottery policy

A lottery will be held after the Open Enrollment period. Families will be notified via email or phone of their child’s acceptance into Cactus Park Elementary through the computerized lottery program. The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces Federal statutes that prohibit discrimination in programs and activities that receive Federal financial assistance from the Department of Education (ED). Cactus Park Elementary is committed to providing an equal opportunity education to all applicants without regard to race, religion, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability or any other protected status in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws.

• Round 1 Enrollment Application - 12/1/2024 - 2/28/2025
  • Upon successful authorization, Cactus Park Elementary will be posting student applications for the lottery on its website on December 1, 2024.
  • Interested parents apply with basic information (Parent name, student name, contact information, date of birth, and grade level).
  • All students who apply prior to February 28th in the Round 1 Enrollment Application window will be entered into a lottery with the exception of preferences, unless the number of applicants is less than the number of seats available.
  • Preferences
    • Third priority will be given to the siblings of currently enrolled students. Should the number of siblings exceed the numbers of available spaces in any grade level; the students will be placed in a lottery to determine priority 
    • Second priority will be given to the children of members of the governing body of the charter school
    • First priority will be given to child of an employee by the charter school
    • Round 1 Enrollment Application closes February 28, 2025 at 11:59PM

 

• Enrollment Lottery - 3/1/2025
  • Lottery Date will take place on March 1, 2025 and results will be shared on March 15, 2025.
  • If fewer pupils apply than there are available seats, a lottery will not be conducted.
  • Students will be selected randomly through a computerized lottery program.
  • Upon selection, staff will notify parents by email. Parents will have 5 business days to accept by registration or decline. If all documents are not submitted by the stated deadline in the acceptance email, the student's spot will be returned to the lottery at the end of the 5 day deadline. 
  • If a student declines their seat, the waitlist will be utilized in the order determined by the lottery.

 

• Waitlist - 3/1/2025
  • Those students who have applied during the Round 1 Enrollment period but did not receive acceptance will be given an assigned waitlist number. They will be notified by email of the student’s placement on this waitlist on March 15, 2025.​
  • Families who miss the Round 1 window are welcome to apply during Round 2
  • Round 2 Enrollment opens on March 15th, 2024, and will operate on a first come, first served basis. We cannot honor preferences from Round 1 Enrollment Application window.​
