Cactus Park Elementary is the second school of the nationally-celebrated pilotED Schools network which opened in the 2022-2023 school year. What You’ll Be Doing
The Operations Manager will serve as a critical member of the Cactus Park Elementary leadership team with diverse responsibilities for high-quality school startup. The Operations Manager will lead the implementation of school-specific and region-wide systems, working in close collaboration with the Principal, Leadership Team and the pilotED Foundation. The Operations Manager will report directly to the Principal. The Operations Manager aims to ensure that all school and business operations run seamlessly so that teachers and leaders can focus as much attention as possible on instruction. To make that possible, the Operations Manager will consistently follow through on key responsibilities associated with campus operations, enrollment, staff engagement, attendance, facility, risk management, finance, information technology, and collaborate with academic leaders to inform operational decisions.

Roles & Responsibilities

Systems
- Create and lead in collaboration with team members on systems related to transportation, arrival and dismissal, visual culture, nursing services, and meal services;
- Manage technology inventory (eg tracking. asset tag, disposals) and distribution to staff in collaboration with the Office Manager
- Maintain and support facility operations, repairs, and other needs alongside Facilities Manager
- Manage vendor relationships (utilities, copiers, etc.)
- Oversee student attendance
- Guide school-based recruitment and re-enrollment responsibilities
- Collaborate with the leadership team to respond to safety incidents
- Lead school-based efforts and compliance with building access, front-office safety protocols, monthly drills, and staff training.
- Ensure expenses stay within board approved budget, and manage purchasing process
- Collect and manage petty cash for various events (e.g. field trips, uniform, etc.)
- Oversee school compliance and reporting
- Collaborate with financial back office regarding payroll, benefits and purchasing
- Lead the operational vision for the school
- Meet regularly with the campus operations team including the operations assistant, facilities manager, school nurse, bus drivers, technology team, and recess coach to collaborate on problem-solving and planning
- Oversee and maintain the comprehensive school calendar
- Lead onboarding for new employees by creating an onboarding schedule, providing new staff training sessions, and building tours
- Manage staff absence procedures
- Create and organize staff culture events
- Meet with and receive support and feedback regularly from team members of the pilotED Foundation
- Be the “face” of pilotED Schools and act on behalf of school administrators when necessary;
- Lead the planning and execution of family engagement initiatives, communications, and events
- Update website with pertinent information for current and perspective families
- Create vision for social media engagement on behalf of the school
- Execute and oversee any school-based fundraising efforts

Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required: Experience or degree in education, communications, or business is preferred.
- Strongly preferred: Five (5) or more years of experience working on a role involving finance, operations, technology, and transportation.
- Fluency in Google suite, and Microsoft office skills.
- Experience coaching, managing or leading a team of adults
- Excellent organization skills and consistency in meeting deadlines;
- Language: English proficiency required; bilingual in Spanish preferred;
- Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus;
